The Yes, We Are Winning Foundation Commemorates The International Day Of Education 2022

The Yes, We Are Winning Foundation Commemorates The International Day Of Education 2022

Every January 24, the United Nations mark The International Day of Education. This year’s International Day of Education will be a platform to showcase the most important transformations that must be nurtured to realize everyone’s fundamental right to education and build a more sustainable, inclusive and peaceful futures.

Education is a basic human right, a public good and a public responsibility. It is a key priority of the state and should not be a privilege or subject to political or charitable whims. Education is the best investment that we can make to ensure a sustainable future for all in any country or region. However, millions of people are being deprived of education either as a result of social, cultural or economic factors.

Teachers And Students demonstrating the use of technology in teaching

Without inclusive and equitable quality education and lifelong opportunities for all, countries will not succeed in achieving gender equality and breaking the cycle of poverty that is leaving millions of children, youth and adults behind.

Today, 258 million children and youth still do not attend school; 617 million children and adolescents cannot read and do basic math; less than 40% of girls in sub-Saharan Africa complete lower secondary school and some four million children and youth refugees are out of school. In Nigeria, more than 13.2m children are out of school. Their right to education is being violated and it is unacceptable.

Wherefore, it is critical that we continue to support the advocacy on quality and inclusive education in pursuance of the actualization of the Sustainable Development Goal, SDG4. The Yes, We Are Winning Foundation is a Charity and Human Capital Development NGO which focuses on Education and Advocacy.

The theme of the 2022 International Day Of Education is: “Changing Course, Transforming Education.” As an NGO that promotes education and inculcate a winning mentality, we join millions of stakeholders to promote inclusive and quality education that would help reduce poverty and foster development in all life’s endeavours.

HOD Ikosi Senior High School, Mrs. Comfort Odubayo, HOS, Social Mobilization SUBEB

Audrey Azoulay, UNESCO Director General, on the occasion of International Day of Education 2021 said and I quote:” In these exceptional times, business as usual is no longer an option.  If we are to transform the future, if we are to change course, we must rethink education.  This means forging a new social contract for education, as called for by the UNESCO report on the Futures of Education, released last November.

We need to repair past injustices and orient the digital transformation around inclusion and equity. And we need education to fully contribute to sustainable development – for instance, by integrating environmental education in all curricula and by training teachers in this field.” –

And finally, in the words of the UN Secretary, General Antonio Guterres, “We must do far more to advance Sustainable Development Goal 4, to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.”

Even though she never intended being a fashion designer, she is glad she ceased the opportunity she had to acquire the skills that now pays her bills. Though, her challenge includes access to funds, and relevant sewing equipments, yet she is determined to keep pushing her way to the top.

Her advice to the youth is find what they love, put in the best of their time, learn and keep learning. She further enthused, “Today’s reality has proven that the cooperate world isn’t doing much for us, and acquiring relevant skill has been a surviving ground for young people. Donald Trump leaves The White House

Donald Trump leaves The White House

Donald Trump came into power to among other laudable projects aggressively push the “America first” fixation. In his inauguration speech, he enthusiastically proclaimed, “From this day forward, its going to be only, “America first.”  America first refers to a foreign policy stance in the United States that generally emphasises isolationism (wikipedia). As relating to foreign policy, Trumps “America First” policy is purposed to achieve an international isolation of the United States.

According to a foreign policy analyst,  Klaus W. Larres, Trump’s “America First” vision has three primary strands: disengaging the u.S from global politics, disdaining allies and befriending autocratic leaders. His ideology in which American citizens are given first priorities in welfare and privileges, was also seen in his immigration policy like Muslim immigration ban and refusal to grant admission to asylum seekers. All these were intended to isolate America from the rest of the world.

Unfortunately, president Trump governed at a time when the rulers of the world are unrepentantly promoting the unity of nations, and tending towards a unity government (One World Government), which is expected to help promote globalisation and end political and economical inequality amongst nations and thus promote global peace and unity. Little wonder President Trump never got the applause of the world leaders and aides seated at a United Nations assembly when he boasted about his presidential accomplishments, and endeared world leaders to his nationalist ideology.

Take a read at what he said, “Like my beloved country, each nation represented in this hall, has a cherished history, culture and heritage, that is worth defending and celebrating, and which gives us our singular potential and strength. The free world must embrace its national foundations. It must not attempt to erase them or replace them,” He further enthused, “The future doesn’t belong to globalists. The future belongs to patriots. This populist ideology may have fuelled his victory as the 45th President of the United States, but certainly not the to the admiration of the international body.

One of Trumps goal was to achieve and sustain a balanced trade that is fair and reciprocal, and such that would favour Americans first. He didn’t want international entities to trample on the rights of the America citizens, or enjoy privileges that should be Americas. In his closing remark to the UN general assembly, He closed by imploring his fellow world leaders to tap into nationalism, telling the audience “patriots see a nation and its destiny in ways that no one else can.” He further said, “The love of our nations makes the world better for all nations,”

And issuing a challenge to his counterparts, he said, Join us in the most fulfilling mission a person could have, the most profound contribution that anyone can make: Lift up your nations and cherish your culture, honor your histories, treasure your citizens, make your country strong and prosperous and righteous, honor the dignity of your people and nothing will be outside of your reach.” For his skeptics, the “American first” ideology with its mix of nationalism, unilateralism and xenophobia, would only will only make the world worst.

For Trump, immigrants should stay in their countries if they cannot abide by the laws of America, which under his government was to favor America and Americans first. This didn’t go well with lots of people who are immigrants, intending citizens, or asylum seekers, and as such they voted him out.

46th US President, Joe Biden

I think one of the reasons Trump lost the 2nd Term bid was because his ideology is not in tandem with the agenda of the world leaders who are divinely acting out the prophesy of the End time. No doubt he’s got noble plans, one of which was to extol the fear of God and promote godliness, a foundation on which America was built. But, by divine permission, he was not to continue to promote his unpopular ideology. What must be must be. The world is running to its completion. Sadly, some of those landmark vetoes shall soon be over-turned by Joe Biden.

Donald Trump has left the White House. Joseph R. Biden has become the 46th President of the United States, with the mandate to unite Americans, and make America great again. The Democrats have returned to the White house; Joe Biden has return to The White house as American President. He will be President of ALL AMERICANS!

Congratulations!

WORLD AUTISM DAY: LEAH, HOPELESS AND HAPPY

WORLD AUTISM DAY: LEAH, HOPELESS AND HAPPY

If you haven’t seen a truly hopeless situation, I tell you what,  you can find a few at an AUTISM center. Yet in the midst of this hopeless situation, a young autistic girl, by name Leah was conspicuously high-spirited, whether voluntarily or as a result of the intellectual derailment, I can’t tell but I know she was happy and yet hopeless.

Afflicted from the age of 6, a man remains a living corpse at the age of 67. For 61 years he’s not aware of his identity and he continues to exist as a senseless 2 year old boy. And then another woman, sapped of life and wellness. I bet, you won’t believe she’s 50 but she exists in a 5 year old paper-weight skeleton-like body.

As part of our social service, the Yes We Are Winning team made a visit to Modupe Cole Memorial Child Care & Treatment Home School, a government owned autistic centre in Lagos. Established in 1960, by Late Mrs. Modupe Cole, it has since 1980 been adopted and funded by the government, with supports and donations from NGOs, families and individuals.

Until I surfed the Internet to search for autism center in Lagos, I didn’t know about this home, so does many of my team members, and I believe many Lagosians do not know as well. Housing over 300 children and adults with over 150 day students, all categorized as totally dependent, trainable and educable, the school facility is definitely not sufficient to cater for this indigents. The Government and NGOs certainly need to do more in terms of support and creating awareness.

YWAW team with Some of the Autistic children

What you should know about Autism

1. World Autism Awareness Day is an internationally recognized day on 2 April every year, encouraging Member States of the United Nations to take measures to raise awareness about people with autism throughout the world. http://www.un.org/en/events/autismday/

2. It was designated by the United Nations General Assembly resolution “62/139. World Autism Awareness Day”, passed in council on 1 November 2007, and adopted on 18 December 2007. It was proposed by the United Nations representative from Qatar.

3. World Autism Day is one of only four official health-specific UN Days.[5] The day itself brings individual autism organizations together all around the world to aid in things like research, diagnoses, treatment, and overall acceptance for those with this neurological variance.

4. World Autism Awareness Day (WAAD) aims to put a spotlight on the hurdles that people with autism – and others living with autism – face every day. As a growing global health issue owing to its increasing exposure in the press and common knowledge, autism is an issue that is only gaining more understanding – and WAAD activities are planned every year to further increase and develop world knowledge of children and adults who have autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

5. World Autism Awareness Day goes one step further to celebrate the unique talents of those with autism, while putting a huge focus on the warm embrace and welcome that these skills deserve through community events around the globe. Gladly, some of the disabled children have been trained on skills acquisitions, and they made lovely beads, and beautiful art work.

The Government needs to do more in terms of funding and providing quality educational facilities, training equipments and professional care givers. Also, more awareness need to be created to enable more people to donate to the school.

Trust me, some situations look very hopeless, and looking at these intellectual impaired people, you will but thank God for who you where you. Some of them have been in this deplorable state for over for as much as 60 years and they can only wait for their death, that is if they even know if they are living.

If you are normal, and able, and have a sound reasoning capacity, you should be grateful even if you have don’t know where the next mean will come from. There’s certainly no hopeless situation with God because there is no impossibility with Him.

You should be thankful for the little things, and do render help to those who are needy. Everyone is precious in God’s sight, whether able or disable. Therefore, show some love to all men. You are winning! Yes, we are winning!
