“It didn’t feel like a gift at all, though nicely wrapped. As I unwrapped it, it feels unexpectedly sharp; my fingers bled, and I was tempted to stop. I felt tricked and disappointed, yet I was going to find out what sort of gift could be so unpleasant and life threatening.
I was almost certain that nothing good was going to be found in the package. Alas, I was right! It was a cruel gift from a cruel giver, I had thought. I was disappointed; I cried.”
Like me, I know you feel that everything should be better than it is. Yes, you expect that your circumstances, finances, relationships, career should be better than they are. That’s absolutely in order.
However, the disappointment that is exhausting and frustrating you holds the potential for so much good. But you will only see it as good if you trust the Giver.
No matter your pains, God is good, and all the time. The suspicion that God is cruel is the root of all evil. God has everything worked out for you. His plans are good even when circumstances don’t feel good.
Dear friend, do not tie your hope to the specific outcomes you think is the only way back to normal, rather tie your hope to the very heart of your creator.
Perhaps, you are depressed because things aren’t normal with you. You lament that you are not where you should be. But in spite of these disappointments, you should be grateful for life. That you are alive is a great gift, and for this you have to be grateful.
So, don’t box yourself; don’t lose hope because you have got something good coming.
Brace up my friend, you’re winning! Yes, we are winning.
