Whether you’re a professional aiming for career growth\, an entrepreneur looking to stay ahead of the competition\, or an individual seeking personal development\, the power to acquire new skills is the key to unlocking your full potential. \nAs part of our advocacy programs\, The Yes\, We Are Winning Foundation joins the rest of the world every July 15th to commemorate the World Youth Skills Day. The theme of the 2023 edition is “Skilling teachers\, trainers and youth for a transformative future”. The WYSD is a UN event to raise awareness on the importance of investing in youth skills development. \nThrough various skills acquisition programs organized yearly to mark the WYSD\, we considered it most appropriate to train the boys at the Correctional Centre for Boys\, Oregun\, Ikeja Lagos as part of our activities for this year. We believe that through our empowerment initiatives we would influence a positive mindset; thereby fostering self-development towards national transformation. \nA two weeks vocational training was carried out at the centre with facilitators from the field of arts and crafts\, photography \, videography and content creation. The boys were taught various skills including the basics of photography\, video editing\, soap making and perfume production. \nPerfume-making session \nSoap-making session \nVideo Editing training session \nPhotography training session  \nIt was an exciting experience for the boys having to learn new skills and it was very fulfilling to see them motivated to become self empowered and to contribute positively to their environment. \nThrough the program the boys were inspired and envision themselves for greater height and to become responsible to their society. Most of them shared their testimonies of how they will like to apply these skills for economic gains in the near future when they gain their freedom. \nAs we celebrate the #wysd2023\, there’s a big potential in your hands that will give you a leap into productivity and profitability. Two weeks to the World Youth Skills Day event which comes up every July 16th\, the foundation enrolled interested youths into various skills acquisition programs where they are trained on acquiring relevant skills that would position them for employability and entrepreneurship.  \nThis is part of activities to promote the sustainable Development Goals SDG 8 which is to promote sustained\, inclusive and sustainable economic growth\, full and productive employment and decent work for all \nOne of the objectives of the foundation is to educate and empower individuals who are determined to excel in all life’s ramifications in spite of daunting political and social economic challenges. In doing this\, we again partnered with various organizations who facilitated the trainings and also jointly provided scholarships to those desiring to further deepen their learning experiences.  \nOur facilitators and partners for the WYSD 2022 Skills acquisition program includes the following: \n\nZiza Digital\nBusiness Consultum and Training Services\, UK\nSaylors Professional Services\nVega Event and Decor\nBestline Creative Hub\n\nCross section of youths at the conference  \nWithin Nigeria\, we recorded over a hundred youths who registered for the following courses and about 60% of these were certified in various skills\, which includes: \n● Digital Marketing  by Ziza Digital\n● Project Management by Business Consultum And Training Services\, UK\n● Web Designing by Sailors Professional Services\n● Event Management and Decoration by Vega Event And Decor\n● Content Writing by Bestline Creative Hub \nAs a way of supporting the Yes\, We Are Winning Foundation’s empowerment initiatives\, the various facilitators offered massive discounts to enable the youth afford the training fee. The following offers are still opened to any person interested in attend the full classes. \n• Digital Marketing: 70% discount. Students are to pay N50\,000 instead of N120\,000 \n• Project Management: 50% discounts on (i.) Business And Project Administration (4 Weekends): £500\, (ii) Project management (2 Weekends). Course fee is £100\, (iii. Communication in a Business environment (1 Weekend): £50\, (iv). The event which is to commemorate the annual World Youth Skills Day (WYSD) is to create awareness on the importance of investing in youth skills development. \nThe event which is celebrated every July 15th\, was celebrated by The Yes\, We Are Winning Foundation on July 13th as her maiden World Youth Skills Day Symposium.  Over 120 Youths from various works of life were in attendance to be part of this life-changing event. \nHighlights of the event includes Seminars and workshops\, Music and Dance\, Entertainments\, Exhibition of crafts\, and networking. DESCRIPTION:In 2008\, The United Nations General Assembly unanimously declared 2 April as World Autism Awareness Day.The Yes\, We Are Winning Foundation was at the PATRICK SPEECH AND LANGUAGES CENTER to commemorate the day with the theme of the 2019 edition focused on “Assistive Technologies\, Active Participation.” \nIt was an Open House Art Workshop\, that has several people with different backgrounds and over 20 special Children\, including those with Down Syndrome and Cerebral Palsy were in attendance to showcase their art and craft skills. \n   \n   \nAutism is defined as a pervasive neurological disorder that is observable in early childhood and persists throughout the lifespan\, characterized by a typical communication\, language development\, eye contact\, and sensory experiences. \n”On World Autism Awareness Day\, we speak out against discrimination\, celebrate the diversity of our global community and strengthen our commitment to the full inclusion and participation of people with autism. Supporting them to achieve their full potential is a vital part of our efforts to uphold the core promise of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development: to leave no one behind.” -Secretary-General António Guterres \nThe School Admin\, Mrs. Nsikan Essien spoke on behalf of the school\, and did appreciate everyone who graced the occasion and identified with these special and amazing children.
